Vehicle Inspection Module
As one of the DCMS (DataComb Management System) suite of inspection modules, VIM focuses specifically on HiLo type equipment or any other plant vehicle. As with all the other DCMS modules, VIM provides inspectors and maintenance personnel with an easy to use graphical interface. All relevant inspection criteria are displayed on checklist type screens and include the ability to associate pictures and video. These associated pictures and video clips are used to further define the operators understanding of the equipment being inspected and to clearly define good\bad inspection criteria.
All inspection data is logged to the database of your choice and can be integrated with external Preventative Maintenance Systems. Utilities are provided for supervisors and maintenance personnel to generate numerous reports – including:
- Top ten – failed trucks or failed reasons – by date
- General inspections – by: truck make, truck id, inspector, shift, date, passed, needing repair, or any search combination
For customers who need to maintain 100% inspection compliance, the VIM application software can be integrated with our smart card reader\writer units. Each inspector is given a smart card that is unique to him or her. When an inspection is performed, the operator will place the smart card in the computer where the inspection is being performed. If the truck passes the inspection, a special code with a timestamp is written to the card.
Each truck is equipped with one of our smart card readers that houses a relay wired into the ignition system. When the operator/inspector puts their smart card in the reader on the truck, the card will be read for passed inspection certification. Upon finding passed certification, the relay will close allowing the ignition system to become active. Cards that do not contain a passed certification for the unique vehicle will allow ignition activation for a short predetermined time.
Watch for our next version of smart card reader hardware that includes the ability to monitor drive motor and hydraulic pump motor run times. Sensors wired to the motors send inputs to the smart card hardware that clocks their total run time and writes the data to a smart card.
